Senior Privledges
Seniors this year are excited to know that school will be done a week early. This is the first time that seniors are let out this early in Eastview histiory. If people were to plan to have a senior skip day the we wouldn’t be able to leave early. The thing with seniors these days is the fact that they are way to excited to leave and some even ask Why senior year exists. Well the reason why there is a senior year is als o to make up credits.. and you know they don’t want us to leave. Especially these days breaks have been less and school been longer. Most schools are out a week later than us, Leaving early doesn’t seem like a big deal but when you hear people talk they get excited.

“He’s there to hold me and guide me as I make mistakes and learn how to take baby steps to get closer to him.” That’s all I could repeat in my head while a poet was on stage saying a poem that she wrote. The thing that catches my attention is the fact that you could write about anything that you’re passionate about. This lady was passionate about how God touched her life and how he’s there to guide her and be there for her. Poetry is for your interpretation a poem doesn’t have to make you see what the writer sees but they want you to feel what they felt. It’s good to be inspired and really know what people are trying to say and write.
“That poem was really good and it showed how she felt and how bad he wants her in his life too even though she was talking about God.” As Fenet was saying this that made my 3 other friends want to write a poem and actually write about something that they wanted others to feel about life. So Fedha wrote about life and wrote about the earth and posted it up on Facebook. Some poems can really inspire someone to really do something or just relax because it could have a good feeling. The thing that actually gets people started to write like this is through experience. A lot of poems could be about love and life and things that just don’t seem right. The thing that seems too important to people is something that is worth writing about. Being inspired by people is one of the main things that could make you do something about it. Poetry has always inspired people to write one. When you read what you like that’s when you want to do something like that too. “I like reading what my friends write because it gives me ideas on what to write about.”Hawi said that it made me think because that was what me and fenet used to do so when I told her that we started agreeing that that’s how people get inspired. Being inspired to write poetry is good and making it mean something to someone can be a really good feeling. The poetry that people were saying was touching especially since you could really feel what they are talking about.
Going to the show was really fun and inspiring especially for my friends I saw how they started trying to come up with freestyle it was fun. I saw how other people were so quiet trying to listen to all the artists. People were singing it out. When I asked what people there what they liked they definitely liked the songs and the poetry. Some people did interpretive dancing its different but it still has meaning in their movement. People loved how there were so many different ways to create poetry. Going to an open mic place for poetry is really nice and it can be eye opening for people who go there. The people who did a good job organizing this were students from the U of M really organized this. Having this at schools could be a good thing because it really teaches students how to get out of their shells and tell people a little poem. It can be really a good thing to start something new. The thing is with poems is that you could open your mind and write whatever it is that you want.

rough draft restaurant
Being a business owner is something that I want to do after college. Knowing people who are some kind of business owner makes me want to strive to be one. I asked a family friend about her business and I find that it really helps to get advice from people who are doing things that you want to do. She recently just sold her restaurant and made another one.
Owner
What made you want to sell your business and start a new one?
The reason why I sold Red sea was because I wanted to start something new and I wanted to have a new place.
What motivated you to start a business?
Well I saw places on lease and some places just were going out of business and I thought of a restaurant to have and when I was telling my family and friends about what I was thinking I ended up really going for it.
What made you still go on during this economy?
Well the economy didn’t really stop me from doing anything. This economy didn’t really stop people from coming here to eat.
What is the main thing that kept you going?
What kept me going is my family they helped out a lot and the people that I serve always make me enjoy my day.
What advice would you give to people who want to start a business?
Well motivation is key so if you really want something go for it and if you think a lot about something try to put it into action.

What do you like about the restaurant?
What I like about the restaurant is the environment and I like the food. Since it’s in Minneapolis I don’t go there a lot but it’s a good place to go out to eat.
What are the main dishes?
Well it’s an Ethiopian restaurant but the food is good if you know the food and the culture.
Do you spend your time here a lot? If so when do you have free time?
No I don’t come here a lot I eat if my family want to come and go out eat on weekends sometimes but I don’t really have a lot of free time.
How do you feel when you go into the restaurant?
The thing that I like about the restaurant is the feel of it and it’s a good environment it shows the culture and it’s just interesting to see the place.
Do you think there should be changes?
Well the place is nice and there really isn’t much to change and I like the way the owner put it to make creative so really there isn’t much to change.
What do you order when you come here?
Well when you go there the food is big enough for a family and they have a plate that 4 people can eat from but I eat the beef stew and ground beef there are different names for it but I’m trying to make this in English... but you just have to come here and see the varieties and the food its better than what I’m saying.
Knowing that the economy isn’t the best she still going and it’s not hurting her.

“The economy never stopped me and it didn’t stop people from coming here to eat.” A family friend of mine that owns a restaurant was giving advice to people that wanted to start their own business in this type of economy. Having a business in this economy isn’t bad you just have to know what people want and that’s how you know you are making bank. She recently sold her restaurant and bought another one to start something new. The thing that kept her going was her family and friends that helped out and the people that go to the restaurant. “The one thing that people need to understand is that motivation is key you have to put it into action.” So to people who want this kind of business it’s really good to put it into action no matter what it is. This economy could be where you do more than just to not think that you can’t do it. Her Ethiopian restaurant is a nice place to be and it shows culture. As long as you have the right vibe for the business that you want and you are determined to make it work then the economy wouldn’t matter. Something that would really get you started is having people to support you because then you wouldn’t feel as motivated to do it. Even during this economy it doesn’t matter what you do as long as you achieve during the process because then it would be worth it. There are days and times where you may be struggling but as long as you’re prospering it’s worth it. So whatever you want to do just know that it would be worth a try especially since it would give more job opportunities. Possibilities are endless if you want to do something that you really want to accomplish. Jobs are always growing and closing but it’s something that you need to be willing to take because without trying you will never know what the outcome may be.
